Exciting new changes to the program! We want to let you know about an exciting development with the Screaming Chickens FRC Team 3997. We are happy to be part of the 4H Club Organization! Our new name is 4H Club/Screaming Chickens. Everything will be run the same, we will just have a new name. We hope that we can continue to count on your support to continue creating new opportunities and experiences in learning to our teen engineering students.
To utilize our participation in FIRST as a building block for our experiences in real world engineering scenarios; to graciously work as individuals with talents in engineering as well as with the community; to learn from ourselves, and one another as a team. Using our talents to challenge the next generation to come into engineering and science and fill the shoes of our predecessors and to exceed expectations for the future by teaching engineering through robotics.
We are the Screaming Chickens
Screaming Chickens 42 is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which is run as an after school club teaching engineering, computer programming, and web design. Our officers are the teens who are in charge of the positions with mentors guiding them through the different skills required to enter the engineering field. We are building leaders who give back to the community while preparing them for the workforce and/or college. We must rely on support from the community which is why we need your help.
We are founded on the principles of teamwork, communication, and the application of knowledge in a technical world– we provide hands on experience for the knowledge taught. Worcester Polytech Institute President Berkley states that our nation badly needs a new generation of highly capable scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and leaders of new technology. We are actively involved in rebuilding our economy and asserting responsible leadership in the world. Solving massive problems of hunger, health, energy and peace will depend on gracious leadership, scientific technological expertise and compassion through the understanding of human needs and potential. The Robotics Post leaders and members understand that need and seek to advance knowledge and to educate members in science, technology, engineering and math subjects.
Unlike other programs, we are a year-long program that participates in the US First community (firstinspires.org), and we are the first group called to advocate for STEM subjects in our local community. We can be seen in numerous community events as we encourage the youth of South Texas to be active in STEM subjects; 1 of a dozen FRC teams in the nation, 1 of 5 of this high caliber. In our first year of competition we placed Highest Rookie Seed & Rookie All Star in the Lone Star Regional FRC Competition. That prompted an invitation to the World Championship where we placed 18 out of 102 in our division. In 2013 we won the Entrepreneurship Award and won the wild card spot to be Regional Title Winner at the 2013 Alamo Regional. This prompted another invitation to attend World Championship where we placed semi-finalists in the Newton Division. We are proud of our accomplishments and look forward to a continued tradition of excellence. We would love to bring our 5 foot tall robot to you and are in the process of making a DVD to share with schools and companies like yours.
